the Patrick VEga Swim Scholarship Partners
Below are the organizations that the Patrick Vega Swim Scholarship has partnered with! These are organizations that we have partnered with and will be giving out scholarships as needed.
SNAP with Stepping Stones is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our mission is to provide socialization, wellness, and water safety through aquatic programs for children with special needs. SNAP with Stepping Stones offers year round recreational swimming lessons in group and private settings, adapted to meet the needs of each child. We additionally provide medical-based aquatic physical, occupational and speech therapy services.
How have your donations helped?
Your donations will be given as two different scholarships. One as a scholarship to train additional adaptive swim instructors. In order to have swim lessons, the instructors must be trained to assist the students to their specific needs. The second scholarship will be for adaptive swim lessons.
Survival Swim with Kim begins as early as 6 months of age and is located locally in Ventura County.
“We take great pride in providing safe and quality survival swim lessons for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Our lessons teach the most essential survival swimming skill, to roll from face down to a face-up back float. Infants and toddlers aren’t able to raise their heads to take a breath, knowing how to roll into a face-up float can save their life! Our program is not just about being comfortable in the water, it is about being able to float, swim, and survive should an accident happen.
Our lessons are private one on one instruction 4 days a week for 10 minutes each day. This structure allows small children to focus and retain what they have learned. Most children complete the program, knowing how to float, in 4-6 weeks.”
How have your donations helped?
With your kind donations, we have been able to gift Kim with four infant aquatics scholarships! Thank you and we look forward to providing more in the future.
Oxnard High School Aquatics
Oxnard High School is a school very close to the Vega Family. Patrick and Kate both attended and participated on the Water Polo and Swim Team.
We would like to thank the swim team and coaches Johnny Castellano and Rick Garcia for helping us put the swim-a-thon together. It was Johnny’s original idea to create a swim-a-thon in honor of Patrick in 2018. For the 2022 Swim-A-Thon, the Boys and Girls teams each received a donation.
The swim and water polo team will be an annual recipient as a thank you for everything.
How have your donations helped?
Your donations helped the swim team buy much needed new equipment such as kick boards and pull buoys. They have also allowed the teams (especially water polo) to enter into tournaments.
Homes with Heart Ventura County
“We believe that children who go into out-of-home care require support, love, and most of all compassion. They need a place where they can feel safe and secure. They need someone who will show them that their lives have value. As a Shelter Home Family, you would be providing comfort, safety, and a loving environment where children and youth can heal and begin to thrive. Your family’s life will be enhanced, expanded and made more meaningful by becoming an Emergency Shelter Home for children and youth who need support, love and mentoring as their families heal.” – Homes with Heart
How can you help?
There are children in the foster care system who would like to have swim lessons, but they need transportation to and from. We are willing to provide scholarships to the lessons, but are unable to provide them with transportation to the lessons.
